Description of the event

As a prelude to World Missions Day, the popular Domund, which this year will be held on October 20, the cloister of the Cathedral of Segovia will host the exhibition 'The Domund uncovered'. The exhibition will open on Tuesday in the cloister of the Cathedral from 12.30 in the morning, with the participation of Dean, Angel Garcia Rivilla, the vicar general, Angel Galindo, and the director of missions, Isaac Benito.

This year, at the express wish of Pope Francis, October is celebrated as an extraordinary missionary month under the slogan 'Baptized and sent: the church of Christ in the mission of the world'. As they point out from the Cathedral through a statement, "the year 2019 has been chosen to commemorate the centenary of the first missionary encyclical signed by Benedict XVI with the name of 'Maximun illud'".

The exhibition, which has already been in other cities such as Madrid, Seville or Valladolid, arrives in this diocese "with the aim of raising awareness and publicizing the Domund, and raising the desire to tune into the work of our missionaries in the corners of the planet. " "Upon entering this exhibition the visitor goes through 90 years of Domund history, the ways and ways of collaborating and participating in the missions," they explain. "In this wonderful journey there is a space destined to remember the missionaries of the diocese, in this case the Segovians, being a deserved tribute to their work."

The Diocese of Segovia currently has 112 missionaries, of which 63 are women. Most of them, destined in countries of the American continent.

The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the cathedral until the 20 of October, the day on which the traditional Domund survey will be held. And in addition to this exhibition, the secretariat of missions has organized a vigil for this Tuesday, at the Convent of the Carmelite Mothers (C / Marques del Arco, 40), from the 18: 00 hours, making it coincide with the day of celebration of Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús, patron of the missions.

The closing of the extraordinary missionary month will take place in the SI Cathedral with a sent Eucharist, on October 27 at 12: 30 hours.
